Message from the Director, Fall 2018

Welcome to all of you who are new to campus, and welcome back to those of you who are returning! We have been working hard at CAPS this past summer to better meet all of your mental health–related needs. We are hiring staff to address the needs of our culturally diverse campus, and we continue to train our existing staff regarding these issues. CAPS offers a wide array of services, including self-help, referrals, groups, workshops, peer support, psychiatry, brief individual therapy, and crisis services.  They are all described on our website, so please take a few minutes to check it out. Last year, we introduced Anxiety Toolbox, a three-session program that teaches you how to reduce anxiety.  Many of you participated in and benefitted from this series, so we are happy to be offering it again, with meetings starting throughout the quarter.

We continue to live in a time of significant social and political unrest, and we hear troubling news on a daily basis from our country and around the world.  These events can be distressing and triggering of previous experiences. We stand ready to support you, so please let us know how we can help.  We are here for you.
