My name is Bita and I am a 30-year old cisgender heterosexual first-generation Iranian-American immigrant woman with pronouns (she/her). I was born in Iran and immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. I moved around a lot before my family settled down in Southern California where I spent all of my adolescence, undergraduate, and graduate years. I recieved my B.A. in psychology with a minor in criminal justice from Cal Poly Pomona in 2017 and then went onto recieve my M.A. and finally my Psy.D. from Azusa Pacific University (APU) in May 2025. I am tremendously passionate about the study of psychology, mental well-being, healthy realtionship dynamics, acceptence of self and others, all areas of diversity, social justice and reform, and living life as our fullest most authentic selves.
I have 7 years of clinical training and practice working in a variety of mental health settings with a wide range of diverse populations and presentations. I started my clinical training working with junior/high school students and families then moved onto working at a community counseling center with all age ranges, identities, and presentaitons. I then shifted my focus to forensic psychology and spent one year at Canyon Ridge inpatient mental hospital and one year at Loma Linda hospital's personality assessment and substacne use disorder unit. After these two difficult years, I shifted my focus back to working with students and young adults and trained at University of La Verne for one year and then University of Redlands for the next year before coming to UCSC for my doctoral internhip and postdoctoral fellowship.
Clinical Interests: The most important areas of clinical focus and passion for me are childhood trauma, relational trauma, family trauma, domestic violence/IPV, social justice concerns, people of color and marginalized populations, immigrant families, and international students.
Personal Interests: My life is dedicated to music, movement, and adventure! :) I love going to music festivals, concerts, and live shows and staying up late at nigh screaming my favorite songs. I love spending time with my romantic partner and my animals (two cats and a dog). I also love traveling to new places, sight seeing, trying new foods, shopping, exploring, swimming in the ocean, and moving my body outdoors.
