Rafael is a cisgender male, gay-identified, Mexican American who is currently pursuing his Psy.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, Fresno. He previously completed a year-long practicum at the Psychological Services Department at Fresno City College, where he gained clinical experience working with college students. Prior to that, he gained clinical experience while working at a community mental health center serving the Latinx population. Rafael practices from an integrative perspective, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy, and is committed to fostering a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.

Rafael’s clinical interests include working with individuals navigating sexual and gender identity and life transitions. He is passionate about working with individuals from the Latinx community and supporting men’s mental health. He has experience with a wide range of populations and settings, including ethnically diverse populations, adult populations, individuals involved with the justice system, LGBTQ-identified clients, and college counseling. Rafael believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship in fostering client growth and the collaborative process.
