    Beth Chiarelli, MSW, LCSW, Supervisor

    Location: CAPS


    About: Beth Chiarelli has 30 years of experience as a Social Worker. She is originally from New Jersey and has been in the San Francisco Bay Area for 30 years. Beth obtained an MSW in 2003 from SFSU and LCSW in 2014. After working at Zuckerberg General Hospital for 7 years, she worked at UCSF Medical Center for 18; the bulk of which were at the Women’s HIV Program. She played a pivotal role in supporting trauma informed care at WHP and has been practicing with a trauma informed lens ever since.  

    Areas of Specialization and Interest: Beth has extensive experience providing outreach, HIV services to women, crisis, de-escalation, harm reduction and trauma informed systems. Much of her career has been working with houseless individuals; advocating for safe, affordable housing. Beth’s goal is to bring all of her knowledge and experience to this role to support the students and staff in working together to remain healthy, happy and safe. Her greatest joy and achievement has been raising her 19 year old son. He has a mobile auto detailing business and plans to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at San Jose State University.

    Austin Brockmann, MS, Intervention Specialist

    About: Austin Brockmann earned his Masters degree in Developmental Science from Oregon State University in 2020. In his studies and professional life, Austin has diverse experience in research, teaching, policy, staff training, grant management, outpatient health services, nonprofit administration, and services for the unhoused. Austin is originally from Santa Cruz County, and is eager to use his experience to improve lives in
    his local community.

    Areas of Specialization and Interest: Austin is interested in working as a part of a broader support network to help people in critical moments. His approach aims to best honor patient autonomy and self determination, while prioritizing safety for individuals and communities. In his various roles, Austin’s approach is guided by principles of harm reduction, de-escalation, and his desire to help people wherever they are at.

    David Cowan, EMT

    About: 
    David's journey in emergency services commenced with a distinguished tenure at CalFire, where he played a pivotal role as a firefighter, facing and overcoming challenges in high-pressure situations. His commitment to public safety led him to the prestigious Skywalker Ranch, where he further refined his emergency response skills in the unique setting of a renowned film studio. Transitioning into the domain of law enforcement, David embraced the role of a Park Ranger for the Mid Peninsula Open Space District,   ensuring the safety of park visitors. This experience has equipped David with a holistic understanding of emergency response, blending both medical and environmental considerations.

    Areas of Specialization and Interest: As a licensed paramedic, David brings a sophisticated understanding of medical emergencies, ensuring the team is well-prepared to address a myriad of situations. His expertise is not just limited to technical proficiency; it is rooted in a genuine passion for community well-being.

    Jill Heron, BA, Intervention Specialist

    About: Jillian is a cisgender female-identified Mobile Crisis Intervention Specialist. From a young age, she immersed herself in the field of behavioral health and education, serving adults and children with varying degrees of developmental disabilities and emerging mental health crises. Since 2018, she has worked closely with security and medical teams to provide emergency psychological services at events across the state of California. She has also served as administrator, dispatch, shift lead, and training coordinator for mental health teams within this field.

    Areas of Specialization and Interest: Additional areas of interest include preventative care, health education, substance use / harm reduction, and de-escalation. Her approach employs a model of compassionate care, presence, mindfulness practices, and client centered focus.

    Chasity Murphy, MSW, Intervention Specialist

    Location: Mobile/Campus Wide

    About: Chasity is a Campus Mobile Crisis Team Intervention Specialist. She is originally from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and has earned her Masters of Social Work from Jackson State University. Chasity has a background as a mental health technician, an emergency department technician, and as a mobile crisis emergency response community support specialist. 

    Areas of Specialization and Interest: Chasity is interested in providing community-based crisis services that target individuals experiencing a situation where their behavioral health needs exceed their resources to effectively handle the circumstances. Chasity is experienced in assisting individuals in crisis with anxiety, substance abuse disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and others that are experiencing emotional and mental distress. Chasity is comfortable with interacting and assisting a diverse group of people with various needs.
