Feeling stressed out over coronavirus?

The events we are all living through are unprecedented and changing daily. Some anxiety and increased stress are a natural and expected response to COVID-19 (coronavirus). 

If you’re like most students, you care about your own wellbeing and you don’t want the virus to affect your friends, family, and community.

The huge volume of COVID-19 new stories and social media posts might feel overwhelming and confusing. 

And then there’s the disruption to your daily life, like taking online classes, leaving your residence hall, answering worried texts from loved ones, or skipping an event you were looking forward to.

So, while some feelings of anxiety are normal, if you are feeling overwhelmed by the stress of current events, here are some tools you can use. CAPS is also offering remote sessions with our mental health professionals if you are not able to come in. Speak to CAPS counselors, psychiatrists, and case managers by calling 831-459-2628 during business hours. After hours, call 831-459-2628, and select option 3 from the automated menu. 


Interactive Self-Help Online Tools (Free to UCSC Students!)

  • Therapy Assistance Online (TAO):TAO is an interactive, web-based program that provides guided activities to help overcome anxiety, depression and other common concerns.
  • Welltrack: WellTrack offers videos, relaxation exercises, mood tracking tools, and written exercises to help raise awareness and work on addressing unhelpful thought patterns.

Relaxation Audio and Video

  • Audio and video relaxation recordings from the CAPS self-help library: In addition to the free audio and video recordings, there’s a ton of other helpful info in the Self-Help library about managing anxiety. Check it out while you’re there!

Mindfulness and Gratitude
